A Day in the Lifestyle - August

Hello! And welcome to another typical day in my life. We are slowly but surely getting used to Rochester, but there is still so much to see here. It's such a beautiful area and we are so lucky to be able to call it home.

Morning routine: You can read my full morning routine here. One of the things I do every morning is fill in my planner for the day. This post explains a little more about my planning routine. It's focused on the monthly set up, but it also has the links for my daily planner sheets, as well.

Breakfast: We are big fans of overnight oats around here. This week, I prepped apple overnight oats and they were so good. I layered oats, almond milk, vanilla greek yogurt (we usually do plain with a little bit of honey, but I cheated this week and did the vanilla instead), chia seeds, diced apple, raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg. This is not the greatest picture - they were much cuter before I stirred them up.

Coffee/Tea: I found the greatest little coffee place called Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters. Their coffee tastes amazing, they have the cutest mugs for sale and they even have a few local books. It was a bit crowded and I didn't take any pictures, but we will be back! Still trying to focus on drinking at least 64 oz. of water per day.

Shopping: Bizi will be a freshman this year and her new school starts next month, so we have been doing a LOT of shopping. So much shopping. Holy smokes, can this child shop.

As for me, I bought some new workout clothes, some Tombow pens (THE BEST) for my sister - they had these at TJ Maxx for $12.99. I think I said on insta that they were $14, but I was wrong. And then I bought groceries. You know, exciting things like that.

Lunch: This week, we have had quinoa bowls. Quinoa, sugar snap peas, avocado, diced chicken, green pepper, lentils, and green goddess dressing. They were actually pretty good.

Family Time: All three of us are officially in training for this 5K. We are still only running two miles three times a week, but there's more running and less walking than previously.

We celebrated National Root Beer Float Day at Lugia's Ice Cream and WOW!

That ice cream cone is a small, you guys. WHAT?

We also went to Insomnia Cookies for National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. I really wanted to bake MY chocolate chip cookies, but we don't have all our baking supplies here in the apartment, so there's not a lot of baking going on until we get in the new house.

We also went to Yolickity, which is a local frozen yogurt bar, just because it looked cute.

Of all this fun junk food, I only actually ate few bites of frozen yogurt, one bite of cookie, and one bite of vanilla ice cream because I just couldn't bring myself to undo all my healthy progress. But Dan and Bizi had a blast! And I enjoyed these discovering these new places!

Supper: We had open faced turkey, artichoke and kale sandwiches with nectarines. I sprinkled a few pecans and drizzled cinnamon honey from It's All About Bees over the nectarines and they were so good. I also made broccoli and sweet potato pizzas on whole wheat pitas, which were pretty good, as well.

Evening Routine: You can read my full evening routine here. I've been using this Calming Green Turnover Toner from Lapalette Beauty, which I love. A lot of toners are actually not good for your face, but this one is so great. Definitely recommend.

Reading: I am currently reading The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. It's so beautiful. I absolutely love it. It can be confusing and difficult to follow, but so far, I'm captivated. Dan and I are also reading Ethan Frome together.

The Last Word: I loved this story about these two Olympian high jumpers sharing their gold medal.

Also cute: these pandas.

And that's a wrap, folks. Thanks again for sharing our day with us!
