A Day in the Lifestyle - June
Hello, and welcome to another beautiful day in our life. So glad you could join us today.
Morning routine: You can read my full morning routine here.
This morning, we ran two miles. I skipped yoga, but would have used this video.
I've also been really enjoying this new lip scrub from Niu Body. It's called Pina Colada Sugar Lip Polish. I use it morning and evening and I love it. It works well and tastes super yum!
Tea: I brewed up Peach Paradise Black Tea and Emerald Sun Green Tea. Both of these are from the Tea Smith.
Homemaking: I usually buy new summer candles in June, but I decided to try more simmer pots this season. My peonies were starting to wilt and I had an apple that was on the verge, so I threw both of those into a saucepan and added some vanilla. I added just enough water to cover, brought to a boil and then reduced to a simmer.
Shopping: We picked up these adorable socks from Jilly's Socks 'n Such in Lincoln. Dan had to get Hawkeye ones. I absolutely couldn't pass up the rainbow ones, especially with it being Pride Month.
We also hit the jackpot at Baker's Candies. If you are from Nebraska, you understand the joy that is a chocolate melt from Baker's. And if you're not, you're really missing out.
My favorites are the milk chocolate mint, while Dan really likes the caramel ones. So we got some of those. They also have a Scooters one that has coffee in it. We accidentally ate all those before I took this picture. They were so good that they might be my new favorite. We also saw that they had these unique flavors of Twin Bings, so we had to get those, as the original Twin Bing is my favorite candy bar.
We are always on the lookout for new pop and barbecue sauces to try, so we grabbed some of those, as well as some original Misty's seasoning. My dad swore by that - put it on everything! And Dan had never tried it. I'm looking forward to our next grill night so I can taste burgers just like Dad used to make!
We bought these beautiful cards featuring the works of local Lincoln artists at Gallery Nine.
I also popped into the Salt Creek Mercantile and picked up this Kelp Clay Mask from Nash and Jones.
Snack: I made some Amish Sugar Cookies. You really need to try these. They just melt in your mouth!
Drinks: We stopped in to visit at Glacial Till, which is one of our favorite places to get cider. We tried the Passion Pineapple and Hibiscus Ginger, both of which were really good. We also purchased a growler of the Passion Pineapple.
Supper: Over the weekend, I made Crockpot Crustless Pizza and a chicken pesto bake.
Family Time: We have been spending a lot of time on Nebraska Passport, which you can read about on my other blog, Two Blondes in the Heartland. We are also participating in the Great Park Pursuit and the Nebraska Wine Passport again this year. I haven't quite gotten all my posts up about the great places we've been so far, but you can expect frequent updates to the other blog because we are on the go almost constantly!
This last week, we visited Beyond Golf, Nebraska Brewing Company, Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum, Cellar 426 Winery, Baker's Candies, Gallery Nine, and Jilly's Socks 'n Such.
We also visited Heron Haven, Mahoney State Park, Conestoga State Recreation Area, and Hickman Main Park.
We also enjoyed National Donut Day last week by getting donuts from Sweet Magnolias, one of my favorite local bakeries. Extra points to them for having Pride donuts!
Speaking of Pride Month, you can find a list of the 30 Best Gay Movies Ever Made over at Harper's Bazaar. I have only watched two of these (The Birdcage and Boys Don't Cry), so I obviously have some work to do.
Evening Reading: You can read my full evening routine here.
I finished reading Sheltering Rain by Jojo Moyes (four stars on Goodreads) and have started A Ship of Brides, also by Jojo Moyes.
The Last Word: Fredricksburg, Virginia has gotten rid of its slave auction block. Finally. Read about that here.
And that's a wrap, friends. Thank you so much for joining me. Have a beautiful day!
