Gluhwein (or Mulled Wine)

1 bottle red table wine (this one's my favorite)

2 cinnamon sticks

1 orange sliced

1/2 c. sugar

1/2 c. water

5-10 whole cloves

cardamom, to taste

star anise, to taste

Add everything to a crock pot and cook on low until hot. Strain and switch setting to warm.

The alcohol does not "cook out." In fact, I find that it has a stronger effect and more quickly. I don't know if it's due to the warmth or the fact that I still have no tolerance, but don't say I didn't warn you!
