A Day in the Lifestyle - May

Morning Routine: We did not run today. I did not workout. I didn't even do yoga. All per doctor's orders for now. However, I encourage you to check out the video I would have used this morning.

It's chilly here, meaning cardigans are still getting a lot of use around here. Today, I'm wearing a couple more pieces from Stitch Fix that have been long time staples in my wardrobe.

I also wanted to share one of my all-time favorite lip products with you. Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. My favorite shade is Patina, but I also have it in Beso, Aria, Fiore, and Perla. (The picture is from their website.) They really do stay on all day, but can get a little dry, so I usually top with gloss.

Breakfast: We are still eating the Amish Friendship Bread from my last baking day. The girls have also been eating a lot of scrambled eggs and spinach for breakfast.

Tea: My in-laws brought me this tea from Cameron Valley in Malaysia awhile back, which I have recently cycled back to drinking more of. We really like it. It reminds me of classic sun tea when I was a child, but probably of much better quality.

We have also been drinking Peach Paradise Black Tea from The Tea Smith.

Homekeeping: Some time back, I ordered a door decal for our front door that said, "Be safe. I love you." This is what I have always said to my kiddos anytime they are leaving the house and I thought it would be nice to have on the door so they could see it on their way out. I ordered in white, but it came in black. I ordered it on Amazon, but the company that actually sent it was international and didn't return any of my messages. It was also going to be fairly pricey to return it. So, it become something that I would "do later." Finally, the other day, I realized that I'm not going to return it and I should just try to use it. While I don't like it as well as I would have liked the white one, it didn't turn out too badly.

Shopping: We included margarita mix and grenadine on our shopping order this week, so look for a future post with those fun things. I also ordered a new valve for my Instant Pot. I meant to do it a long time ago because I love love love my Instant Pot. New fun recipes to come!

I also ordered some new Ateco pastry tips for a project I have scheduled later in the month that I think everyone will really enjoy!

Lunch: For lunch, we had some roasted beets and sweet potatoes. These are such a good way to eat healthy. Also super easy to prepare and very inexpensive. I just slice about 3-4 beets, depending on size, as well as a couple sweet potatoes. I don't peel mine, but of course, you can. Place in a large mixing bowl. Add olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. You can, obviously, add whatever else you want, but I just added these simple seasonings and they turned out great. Grease a large sheet pan, spread veggies on sheet pan and cook at 450*F for about 20-25 minutes.

Typically, I would use this as a side with supper, but it also works for a light, healthy lunch.

Snack: I made this chocolate sheet cake with buttercream icing from Preppy Kitchen. This is the best chocolate cake I've ever made. I really thought about just eating a bowl of icing, as well. It's perfect.

Project: I made these peppermint shower melts this week. And since I didn't feel well, they were a real godsend. Just place one on your shower floor (I recommend not on the drain, but do what you want) and allow to melt while you take your shower. The steam of your shower will circulate the essential oils.

Supper: As I mentioned, I have been laying kinda low this week, so I don't have much in the way of great recipes today. Friday, we had a great lasagna soup (I got the recipe from Home and Plate). Saturday, Dan grilled burgers for everyone (because my husband is amazing). And Sunday, we had basic spaghetti because I just wasn't feeling up to cooking much. I am planning a chicken dish for this evening, so I will share the recipe for that on Thursday.

Family Time: We sat on the couch and watched Live PD. However, I have a great family project planned for this coming weekend, assuming we feel up to it. Fingers crossed!

Evening routine: You can check out the link for the full evening routine, but I don't have anything new to share today. Regarding my reading, I finished Silver Bay (5/5 stars) and started The Horse Dancer. Both of these are by Jojo Moyes. I really enjoyed Silver Bay and think you will, too! I just started The Horse Dancer. I'm not even through the first chapter, so I can't say too much yet.

And that's a wrap, folks! Thank you so much for joining me on another beautiful day in our life. Please stay safe.
