A Day in the Lifestyle - May
Hello, and welcome to another beautiful day in our life! So glad you could join us today. As always, I would love to hear from you. If there are things that would make these posts more interesting or useful to you, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Morning Routine: We aren't going to start running again until next week, but I have returned to my morning workouts with my favorite fitness app, 8Fit. I also used this video for Yoga this morning. For morning meditation, I have started a Mantra Meditation course on the Oak meditation app. The app is always free, but the courses usually are not. Right now, they are offering this mantra course for free. I didn't think it would really be my thing, but I'm always up to learn about something new, so I tried it out and really like it. I finished my second class this morning.
Breakfast: I made chocolate mint, lemon poppyseed, and cranberry orange breads for breakfast. Still trying out these different variations of the Amish Friendship Breads to see which ones the family likes best.
Tea: I decided to make Arnold Palmers, but with a little bit of twist. I brewed up some Golden Gate Green tea from the yerba buena tea company, which is a gunpowder tea. I then made some fresh lemonade (just with a simple syrup and lemons, nothing fancy) and mixed. Garnished with orange slices.
Homekeeping: I made a DIY laundry stain remover that you can try out. I've been pleased with the results so far, but let me know how it works for you.
Shopping: First of all, my favorite blue box showed up this week! I always look forward to receiving my Book of the Month box! This month, I selected The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. If you've never tried Book of the Month, I highly encourage you to try it out. They often have great intro deals. Also makes a great gift! My mom gave me a six month membership one year as a gift, which is why I tried it out. One of my favorite presents ever!
Also, side note, in case you're wondering, why yes, I do have other tablecloths. I'm not sure why I always seem to take pictures on days that make it look like only own two tablecloths. I need to get more creative with both my photography and my linens.
I also put in a Target order because I needed - yes, needed - some new summer decor. Arguably, this tulip mini-wreath is more spring-like than summer, but it was so cute. I really like it with the little faux orchid.
My oldest daughter gave me those tiny little succulents, so while they don't exactly match, I'm keeping them up there. My oldest son also made this shelf, so while it probably doesn't actually match with everything every season, I love it.
Lunch: I made this Quick & Easy Pea Salad for a quick side to go with sandwiches.
Project: I finally finished the crochet face scrubbies for the girls and me to use in our skincare routines. I'm excited about these because they are good for our skin, reusable, and a frugal alternative to disposable makeup wipes. I've never tried to write a crochet pattern before, so I can't promise that there won't be any issues there, but feel free to let me know if you try it out. I want to make a little pouch to store these in, so if you know where I can find a pattern for that, please let me know!
Supper: This week, our supper menu plan included a Cheesy Chicken & Ham Casserole (Monday), Summer Pasta (Tuesday), and Fettuccine Alfredo (Wednesday).
Evening Routine: As always, I start my evening routine at 8 p.m.
This week, I used a Pore Glow Mask from JJ Young, as part of my evening skin care routine on Wednesday. It's a decent mask. I don't love it, but I don't dislike it.
I'm still reading The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes. I haven't gotten as many books finished this week as last week, so I'll have to step it up a bit if I want to get my reading list done this year!
And that's a wrap, folks! Thanks so much for joining me! Have a beautiful day, loves!
